Fire protection switches, arc-fault detection devices (AFDD) reduce the risk of fire caused by defects in the electrical installation. They disconnect the affected part of the system when serial and parallel arc faults occur. There are, as laid down in DIN VDE 0100-420, stipulated for common rooms and bedrooms in nurseries, nursing homes and accessible housing, as well as facilities at risk of fire.
